A great book by Andy Andrews. The story takes place on Ono Island during WWII. Originally titled, "Isle of the Saints". This is a great story for all - it's about war, loss, love, hope, and making peace with the past. Website: https://andyandrews.com/product/the-heart-mender/ |

Positive:
Great book by a local author. On Tues/Thu Mr. Andrews will autograph your book after his podcast recording. This and "The Noticer" are probably two of my favorite Andy Andrews books - I love all the local references of places AND people that he weaves into his storytelling - sometimes you don't know where fiction ends and truth begins. His last of "The Noticer" books, "Just Jones" primarily takes place at The Wharf.
The Heart Mender, however, is the best. It is a sweet story that restores hope that the fiercest of enemies can find peace.
Negative:
He could have added a few more chapters? It was a great story - one you hate to see end.
